Besides the award for the best independent workshops in Germany, Partslife (provider of workshop waste disposal solutions) granted in the Gala organised last Thursday an Environmental Award. The Gala is organised under the patronage of rock star Peter Maffay, who greeted the public through a video broadcast from Spain, where he was honoured by the Spanish Royal House for the contribution to the cause of traumatised children.
The absence of Peter Maffay did not affect the success of the Gala, as the stars of the evening were the companies. Wolfgang Steube, General Manager of Partslife GmbH, emphasized in his speech that car dealerships and workshops focus more and more on environmental matters, which was proven by the environmental protection and sustainability projects awarded this year.
Volker Angres, editor in chief of ZDF environmental department, presented the awards and, together with other experts, was part of the specialist jury. In the industry category, the €3,000 award was granted to Liqui Moly for their waste air disposal system at the bottling line in Ulm. In the commerce category, the award and the €2,000 prize went to AD Cargo, the logistics branch of CARAT Holding. The jury was impressed by the significant number of individual initiatives, among which the installation of a 24,000 sqm photovoltaic panel system on the roof.
Fred Pfennings GmbH und Co. KG was granted the award for the first “green gas station, as well as for environmental protection and sustainability at company level”. Their photovoltaic system covers more than their needs. They also built a charging station for electric vehicles which takes the sun straight into the fuel tank.
It’s raining money for Peter Maffay Foundation
The environmental award granted by Partslife for the newcomer category went this year to the spare parts distributor Intercars from Poland. The jury appraised their battery collection programme, which resulted in more than 276 tones of used batteries, collected in eight months. A special award was granted to Wulff Gaertner GmbH of Hamburg for the best unitary approach in implementing environmental actions at company level. They turned environmental protection into their main focus and implemented many ideas and incentives to significantly improve the company CO2 footprint.
Peter Maffay had his moment of joy at the end of the Gala. He and his foundation were represented at the Gala organised by Partslife in Wiesbaden by the Foundation administrator, Mr. Albert Luppart. He received a €150,000 check for Peter Maffay Foundation, handed by Alois Ludwig, General Manager of ZF Services and member of the TEILEn e.V. Board, and all recipients of environmental awards decided on the spot to donate their prizes to the Peter Maffay Foundation.
