“A project of friends”, this is how Peter Maffay describes Tabaluga House in Duderstadt – for a good reason: professor Hans Georg Näder, General Manager of Otto Bock Holding (www.ottobock.de) and a good friend of the musician was the one who revived the house into its current condition. It is a wonderful Fachwerk house almost 400 years old, located in the old historical centre of Duderstadt. The two former private houses underwent full energy rehabilitation, and the walls and floors were renovated using green building materials. The result was a bright, friendly environment, as the children like it, adapted to the last detail to the needs of disabled persons. It is a place where children with reduced mobility, as well as children with mental disorders may recover and take a break from their day-to-day hardships in an intact community. The shelter includes 19 beds, providing accommodation for 15-16 children and their carers.
The philosophy of the project “Shelters for children in Duderstadt” is to integrate the institutions and organisations having their headquarters in Eichsfeld in individually designed programmes for groups and families. These synergies provide both children and carers the best possible sojourn in Eichsfeld.
A part of the concept “Shelters for children in Duderstadt” includes Tabaluga House, as an independent shelter. It fosters community spirit and provides groups and families a sense of belonging.
Tabaluga House in Duderstadt is an independent shelter managed by Schutzräume für Kinder Duderstadt gGmbH. It is available for children and their carers for relaxing sojourns in Eichsfeld. Peter Maffay is a member of the Schutzräume für Kinder Duderstadt gGmbH Board and professor Hand Georg Näder is an associate.
