The institutions of the Peter Maffay Foundation, which are both in the middle of nature and at the same time sheltered and guided (like e.g. the Finca Ca’n Llompart) offer children and families a certain space where they can “interchange, meaning that they find a voice for their special, difficult situation, so that they can leave their isolation and grow from solitude into being a community member by experiencing things jointly and sympathizing with others.”
Working in nature, combined with experiencing and feeling one’s own strength as well as one’s limits, dealing with living conditions that were before unknown and becoming acquainted with the characteristics of natural cycles are aspects that support the ability to “find oneself through creating”
„Reaching the centre“
means to understand that the development and extension of one’s own creative abilities and talents promote a positive self-experience of children and their family members. For children and youngsters with personal or social experience of estrangement, e.g. coming from big cities, one may also sum up the process with the motto “back to the roots”.
